James Simpson

James Simpson is a research student in the lab investigating how conversational agents can support coordination in a variety of scenarios. Prior to joining the lab, James completed a one-year Master’s of Science at the University of York’s Human-Centred Interactive Technologies program. His Master’s dissertation investigated how people used conversational agents such as Apple’s Siri to prevailing interaction techniques, namely the use of touch dominant mobile applications. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, James worked at Maluuba, a Canadian deep learning start-up that was acquired by Microsoft in 2017 in a number of technical roles. James received his Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Waterloo in Canada.
